After this long journey of research I have finally found the answer to my big question. What is the best plan to help those who have suffered or still suffering from a hostile home environment? The answer is to first Try to talk to your parent or guardian about the situation. If they don't listen to you and matters get worse then move out of the environment. See a counselor or psychologist keep a journal so you can talk to them about any problem. This way you can vent and not bottle things up inside. If there is no way to do things above then call (800)4-a-child someone can help you there. Living in a new environment you can feel safe and have some one to talk to when no one else can help you.
I have learned many things during my research. I have learned that there are many types of abuse in hostile home environments. which are emotional, physical, mental and neglect. I also learned that there are many ways to neglect a child. Not enrolling a child in to school or letting them take to much time out of school for unimportant reasons is educational neglect. I never knew that at all but it does make sense because a child can suffer from it in the long run. Shaken baby syndrome is another new piece of knowledge to me. When a caregiver gets really aggravated with a baby because he/she won't stop crying and shakes the baby. Something so little as rocking a baby to hard to make them fall asleep can also cause this. When this happens the neck mussels are not strong enough so the brain moves around the skull causing brain damage or even death. I am very grateful that I found this information because my mom just had twins and I can know be more careful and tell others about it.
Another syndrome I learned about is Munchhausen Syndrome by proxy, this syndrome is caused by the parent or guardian. The parent/guardian causes the child to get sick and then takes the child to the hospital to try to convince the doctor that the baby is ill for to receive attention. Honestly I think that is so crazy hurting a child for attention I think is so wrong. What surprised me was that neglect can cause serious problems such as bed wetting and comprehending in a social environment with peers and family.
I believe my research was very successful. It helped me to understand why hostile home environments occur. They occur because there is not enough attention in the home, Parents went through abuse as a child a now passes it down to there children or parents are just stressed out because things are not going good so they take it out on the child. I also understand the effects it can have in a person's life. It can go 1 or 2 ways. It can have a negative impact on your life and mess you up mentally or you can learn from the experience and become a better person.
Now that I have found this information I plan to do a lot with it.I can help families that I know are going through the hostility. Greeting the children when I sees them and ask them how they are doing. When I see them in raged clothes , I can spare them clothes I can no longer fit or try to find some.If they are hungry with no food , i can feed them. Just showing them you care can mean so much to them. Helping my household is another thing I can do with this information. When I see things are getting bad we can all sit down as a family and talk about our problems. So we can fix it as a family. I am now ready for future parenting. I know how to prevent abuse in homes. Making sure my sisters stay in school, make sure they are being taking care of receiving clothing, food and keeping up there hygiene. Keep them active in extra curricular activites in school. talk to them often make them feel safe so they can never think twice to come to you when there is a problem. So If there is ever a problem in my home I will know how toi solve it.

ma research on pollution
university of alabama. " air pollution, smoking affect latent tuberculosis". science daily

As i research on air pollution I found out that it may be very harmful and also can be somewhat contagious. I found dat it may be a toxic gas present in air pollution and tobacco smoke which is playing an significant role in triggering tuberculosis infection. cigarette smoke may be leading cause of tuberculosis and deaths around the world. Air pollution and cigarette smoke is killing about 1.5 millon people a year.

what my peers had to say
Today I decided to listen to what my peers had to say about my topic. The first question I asked is What Effect do you think Hostile environments have on a child's development? Tyree D. said "I think it effects the outlook on life, It can make you who you are".(Doggett,Tyree period 3 personal interview may 16, 2008) I agree with him. I believe that a hostile home environment can make or break you. U can learn from it or live the same way as your parents. I asked Shaun M. The same question his response was "It makes them grow up how they their parents".(Mitchell,Shaun period 3 personal interview may 16,2008). I agree with this answer as well. I asked anonymous what she thought. She said "Some children turn out good"anonymous gave me more than a answer to my question she gave me an example of why she thought so. she told me that her cousin grew up in a hostile home environment. his mother died and he lived with his grandmother. He was always receiving beatings because they thought he was a homosexual. His grandmother would Take his money that came from his mother's death and would use it on her children. Always taking her kids to the mall for clothes and sneakers, He received clothes from the goodwill. Now that he is older he learned from his childhood. He moved out of state and has a nice car and house.(anonymous personal interview may 16,2008). Brittany R. thought that growing up in a hostile environment makes you not trust people and can become abusive to others.(Russell, Brittany per 3 personal interview may 16,2008). I agree with this strongly because I have been thorough this situation where someone lied to me when I was younger and it was very hard to trust people for a while. Anytime someone would tell me something I wouldn't even get my hopes up just look and say ok. I used to think like I will believe it when I see it. Maleik B. said something different from the others. He said it can mess you up mentally and possibly lead to suicide and drug use.(Bailey, Maleik period 3 personal interview may 16,2008). I have never met anyone who wanted to commit suicide but I have heard about it as I researched my topic. But I do know someone who went to drugs for the problem and I believe its the wrong way to go. At the moment it may make them feel good but its really dangerous and is like committing suicide slowly. One of my peers said that She thinks it confuses the child because they don't know rather to be like the parent or guardian or to learn and better from it.(Mcadory, Charlese period 3 personal interview may 16, 2008) I am in the middle with this one. I agree but then again I don't. I believe that the child doesn't really even know that he/she have a choice to be like them or be better. But on the other hand me personally I have learned from my household. I know what things I want to go through and Know how I should act as well. But everyone is different.
My next question to them was what do think is the best solution to help those who has suffered from hostile home environments? Which is my essential question. Tyree D. said that someone should sit them down and talk to them to see what steps they could take to help.(Doggett, Tyree period 3 personal interview may 16,2008). This idea might not be the best because who can sit them down and talk to them if no one in the house even cares. Tigger said to show them love and that you care embrace them . Show them that there is a better way of living.(Roberts, LyNasia period 3 personal interview may 16,2008). I think this could help if the parent or guardian is interested in making the child better or wants to improve the household. half-way house, counseling or talking to your family about it is what brittany R said.(Russell, Brittany period 3 personal interview may 16,2008). Counseling I think is a good idea but all people don't have family to talk to but if you have family you can trust then go for it. Mr. Bailey told me that he believes that foster care, live with a different family member, see a physiologist and become active in school activities.(Bailey,Maleik period 3 personal interview may 16,2008). These ideas are wonderful honestly. To be active with peers and move out of the horrible environment that you are in.
The final question was how many people do you know that live in hostile home environments? all of them except for on e knew may people who lived in hostile home environments. Someone even said that half of her friends live in these environments. So this problem is very common. I thank the people who gave me there time.

another type of abuse in hostile home environments
Searching Google once again using what Mr. Malley thought us about researching using "" I came across more important sites about child abuse. Help guide.org thought me that there is another type of abuse. This type of is abuse is neglect. Neglect is the failure to provide to a child's basic needs and it may effect a child's physical or mental well being. There are 3 types of neglect : Educational, physical and emotional. An example of educational neglect is when a parent fails to enroll a child in school or permits the child to miss many days of school. An example of physical neglect is reckless disregard of child's safety or not feeding a child properly or providing clothing or hygiene. emotional neglect is failure to intervene when the child demonstrates antisocial behavior or allow a child to use alcohol or any type of drugs. There are many signs that show that a child is being neglected. Such as dirty clothing , raged or not suitable for the weather. Bad Body Odor, infections in cuts as well as body rashes are more signs("child abuse and neglect"1). This site thought me something that I didn't know. Shaken baby syndrome is a type of abuse involving babies. This syndrome is when a caregiver gets frustrated and shakes the baby roughly to make the baby stop crying. The babies neck is not strong enough to support this so the babies brain moves around in the skull suffering damage and can even cause death("child abuse and neglect"1). This is very important information to me. I say this bacause my mom ojust had twin girls the other day and I never knew a baby could be hurt that way. I can also educate my sister on this syndrome so she wont make a mistake and do the same. Helpguide.org Also gave answers to my essential question. You can help a child suffering from a hostile home environment by reporting to school personnel,Social workers, health care workers, mental health personnel or even law enforcement personnel.

More and More research...
As I searched the Internet more using Google.com I found medline plus which connected me to a lotmore information about hostile home environments. This site said that child abuse isn't just physical it is also emotional. Children need love and support. Emotional abuse is the most damaging abuse known. Ridiculing and name calling can do some harm to a child in the long run. It can effect a child's self-esteem and self-image and the ability to function well in society(medline plus). These children feel as though they dont matter so, they have a problem making friends and relating to their peers including taking their selves out of activities with other children. Other things also take place such as bed wetting. But one thing that I kind of learned from medline plus is that the reason why many children are mistreated is because their parents where mistreated as youngsters. And if parents knew that they were doing this they would probably want to stop it because they didn't enjoy it growing up but on the other hand some parents know that they are doing it but don't care because they were treated that way. Medline said that visiting a physican or clegryman would start to help the problem which relates to my BIG question

intro on initial reflection
pollution
Pollution is when water, air,or land becomes very dirty and unsanitary. Pollution can come in four different types effecting different parts of the world.Air pollution effects the air and what we breathe.Land pollution effects the land and environment.Water pollution effects the water and the aqua marine life.Noise pollution can effect our hearing.what I know about pollution
is that it can be very harmful and it can possibly damage the earth severely. I feel that in the next 10-20 years ,if we cannot reduce the amount of pollution then the world may suffer some difficulties to our society.Pollution can affect our standard way of life. This doesnt affect me, it affects everyone living.Pollution can spread and contain viruses and diseases that can spread which is not a positve factor.Pollution is leading to an unhealthy place.
What interested me in this topic is that nobody think pollution is really important in are life, and that it isn't harmful. MYbig qustion to the people is How many ways can wee cause pollution? What methonds can we use to decrease it? in order for me to answer these questions i would have to answer my foundation questions to help me do a better research on solving my problem.

What I found as I researched hostile home environments
My topic is about hostile environments and as I searched the Internet I found a counseling type website. On this site i found a blog by a girl named Diane, her father raped when she was 10 years old and she accidentally reported it to her therapist. DYFS got into the matter and her father was removed from the home. From reading this blog she seems said and she included that her mom doesn't even believe her. Her mother lets her father come back and he hates her with a passion. Making her life as miserable as he can by causing many problems because he knows that the mother is on his side. Feeling so miserable and helpless she doesn't know what to do but take her own life. Diane says that she is scared to call child protection because she might end up in a foster home. This is crazy and she happens to be a victim of a hostile home environment what can we do to help her overcome this tragedy??

Introduction to hostile home environments
It has come to my attention that many children are living in hostile home environments. The type of environment that their parents might be in jail and have abusive foster parents, children have been raped, abused, parents suffer from drug addiction or some parents can care less if their kids live or die. Because of these reasons I am very interested in this topic. It is a problem that can effect the future of the these innocent children. They deserve a chance to live better and have a shot to become somebody important in life. And I believe that there is a solution out there to help those who have suffered from these hostile home environments.
I knew a couple of things about hostile home environments before. chidren that go through this can either make or break them. They can become troubled, confused or cold hearted or they can learn grow from the exprience and become stronger. I know that for some children its hard to overcome the abuse. So what can we do to help those who has suffered these hostile home environments? What is the definition of hostile environment? How can a hostile home environment play a big role in a child's life?

How Do Undiscliplined Youth Disrespect The Elderly?
I first knew respect was gone when i talked back to my mother and nothing happened. I told my mother ''no i dnt feel like doing that''. I felt that i was in the wrong, she tell me to do something, i stop what i'm doing and do it.A feeling of right and wrong. As i was growing up my grandfather taught us(children, grandchildren) respect. My grandfather used discipline to gain respect from his children.to do something wrong, would have gotten them a beating you could remember. A green rubbr hoes, with the seriously expression on his face would put fear in you.The fear meaning he is the boss and will always be in charged. With great power comes great respect.
Respecting someone or their class as an elderly person has changed. Each generation has lost the respect issue for others.Kids feel that they are the future and they could do what they want. The parents may be some part of the problem of why the youth today are the way they are.Back in my mothers time, if they were to do something wrong discipline would let you know what you did and why you cant do that.Respect is a priveleged

aliens in the sky
Adam and his friends gets captured by the aliens and held for hostage until someones comes along for help to save them. After a couple hours go by,it started to feel like a hiatus as if the whole town went ghost.Unfortunetely no one was around to help.Adam and his friends begin to get paranoid and started to cry for help but still no response. The aliens were alarmed by the cries and begin to check it out. If I were to be in this perspective, I would feel like i dont have anything to live for anymore .If the aliens didnt want to reason then I probly just kill myself before they try to torture me because i dont want to die in a bad way . I would rather die in a peaceful way so if the aliens wasnt coming in peace then we would have some serious problems. I would feel so scared to even talk so I wish that they can find a way to freedom because I would not want to live like this.

Another side of her!
Christopher Pike's: The Graduation
Sara seems so sweet and innocent. I've read other wise. Her hormones are raging. For there senior class activity they are having a boat trip on the night of class day. Captain's orders were to have passenger suites locked and kept off limits. She didn't quite like that idea. She talked the captain into letting them use some of the rooms. Sara is a virgin and she wants the night to be special. This is her last year in school and she plans to be with that special person."she wanted more that a roll of hay" She wanted something to spark in her life. This was interesting to see this side of Sara. First reading this book I would've never even guessed she was a virgin to begin with, I don't know why though. Maybe because half of my high school population aren't virgins anymore. This question goes out to older people....In your high school were their many virgins in school?

Jessica's Dream
Christopher Pike's: The graduation
Ms. Jessica Hart always thought of winning never losing. She expected high marks,be nominated home coming queen as well as get excepted to Sanford and fall in love with a cute boy. None of these things has happen to her, not one. Her average is a c+ and her class rank was in the mid-two hundreds out of 464. That horrible. Her dad has held back her application for Stanford because he is very disappointed in her. Good old Bill as they make call him is the guy she kind of likes. But he's not really considered a boyfriend they went out about three times. THAT'S WACK!!!! Well I have someone in my life kind of like this. My cousin had high expectations of her self and really none of them came true. She wanted to get real high grades, go to school in Charlotte, north Carolina and have a boyfriend to always be by her side and to love a cherish her. Instead she ended up going to ECC and she has a different boyfriend every month (really!!). That's crazy how this character is like a split image of her. Do you know any one like Jessica or my cousin??

Just like the high school days! The graduation by christopher pike Pg.10-22
The Graduation by Christopher Pike
Pgs. 10-22
The characters in this book remind me of high school days of the present. Graduation is now on it's way here, class day right around the corner. It's time to hear those valedictorian speeches, give out awards and look at slide shows full of memories. Sara has passed out yearbooks and they are so ready to be filled with signatures. The signatures that will remind you of that person forever. These yearbook signatures tell so much about the characters in the book. A guy name bubba wrote a whole paragraph about how he wanted to make passionate love to sara. Sara hated him he's not a sweet guy at all. He's more of a pervert. Bubba is the type of guy that will try to trick you to kiss him or something like that. The type of guy who would pay you to go out with him. Say little sweet things or sweet smart comments in front of people.I know everyone has had someone like bubba before. If so how have you dealt with this situation??

Put Yourself In The Setting
Whisper Of Death, Christopher Pike
Pages50-68
My book was written in the late 1960's because the scene, the things around it. Like foe example the lack of technology they have and some of the things they do. I believe people will read this book 10 15 years from now because of how great it is. It doesn't start off that good but as you continue to read it gets more and more interesting. I would take this book as aproduct of it's time. It tell you what was happening back then and how couples were spentinng time together. This book could as be written to morden times. The reason I think this is because I can & other people can relate to the event that occur between the couple, the town, hangout spots and something bad happening. Overall this book by far is good to read I would recommend it for young people in love to read. Now put your in that postion and how would you react in that place? I am responsing to the third bullet in settings.
If this was you what woud you do?

The Setting Of My Book
Whisper Of Death, Christopher Pike
pages: 29-47
The setting in the book reflects the entire story. The setting makes the book. It takes place in a little town outside of Texas somewhere and there is a population size of like 250 and everybody knows everybody. What makes the setting so unique is how everything in the story falls in to part with the setting as each scene. For example when they went to a special place on the mountain it was just them nobody else which made the scene so real as if you were there in place of everybody. It makes you relate to things happen in the story. Without the setting the story would be dull and boring just overall not interesting. Every spot and every place the book takes you brings it to life . I am responseing to the first bullet in setting.
How do you feel about the setting ?

The First Conflict Of My Book
Whisper Of Death , Christopher Pike
1-32
As I read I came across my first conflict in my book. The characters Pepper & rox are a young couple in love and are experienceing some problems. Rox thinks she is falling in love to fast and is not sure what to do. I think they will face many more conflicts as the story progesses. The characters seem angry all the time and only happy when they are together which is good. I believe this will affect them having more problems in the future. I want to know next if they will continue to have issues. But i think they will make it though. They way rox acts thoughtout the story so far. Pepper is more of a layed back type guy so i don't believe there will be problems from him. The suspens is killing me. I'm dying to know whats going to happen next. I am responsing to the first bullet in conflict
What do you think will happen next?

I want to know next if they will continue to have issues. But i think they will make it though. They way rox acts thoughtout the story so far. Pepper is more of a layed back type guy so i don't believe there will be problems from him. The suspens is killing me. I'm dying to know whats going to happen next. I am responsing to the first bullet in conflict
What do you think will happen next?

impressions on the book
aliens in the sky
christopher pike
page # 1-25
It starts to get real spooky up in spooksville . Adam and his friends stay up late one night, then they seen these bright lights in the sky. The lights looked like flying saucers. The next night ,one of the saucers lands by the reservoir and when they came out the ship , they didnt look like people at all. How I feel about this book is shocked ans surprised. I did not expect to read something like this .this bbok is like some type of extraterrestrial mystery. I didnt feel scared by this , maybe a little curious because i wanted to find out if the aliens will realese them or not .Maybe they didnt capture them it might be some sort of prank or the aliens could be coming in peace. I will just have to keep reading to find out what might happen later in the story because i am deeply interested to find out.

Christopher pike's, The graduation
The name of my book is called The graduation by Christopher pike. So far I read about 10 pages and the book has 238. I know it sounds bad but, right about now the book is not that interesting to me. Right now the book is about some high school Seniors approaching graduation. The main character is a girl name sara which is class president. Sara has the hard job of sorting and passing out year books to her peers. Hopefully this book gets more interesting as I read it.
Post For New Book 1-18-08
I don't like my book so far. It seems very boring and has no intersting parts to it. My book is a myserty book but the way the myserty unfolds it's wack to me lol. I hope as i contiune to read this book becomes more fun and i also hope i enjoy reading it. The backround of my book is that a girl & her boyfriend goes campin in a strange place with differnt people. Then everythin seems to fall out of place. This really brings no fun into this book at all.

Group Response 1/14/08
The reason my group choose mystery because we thought mystery would be good and interesting. Mystery is a sense of a crime or usally something bad happening and we though this would be good to read. The reason other people read mystery is for the same reason. Mystery has that special exictment thats draws you in to read it.

Assessment - Indy Reading Project - December
Kearia - 5/5 Responses
Nice work Kearia. I'm glad you found a book that you liked. Just be a bit more specifics with your responses. That last response wasn't really backed up by much evidence.
Jamar - 3/5 Responses
Jamar, I'm going to focus on the second response since it is representative of the high water mark of your responses. You set that response up nicely. It's well organized and sheds real insight into the connection between your book and your life. Nice job. Let's bring the rest up to that level and make sure to keep up on your reading.

I like that you are varying the questions you are responding to. Although they are a tad on the short side, they really show that you are trying to get inside the book to understand it. Nice job so far this quarter.
Vince - 5/5 Responses
I'm glad you finally got the hang of the responses and blogging. I like the last couple of responses. They are authentic. Nice job. Hopefully you pick a good book next time also.
